My Part of the Story .. Rannet
I was actually planning to propose to Shoby for a very long time, but of cos I wanted it to be special and at the right time. After getting things settled on my side i.e. confirmation from family and all, I finally made my move to do it. But of course, those who know Shoby - who is always impatient, (yes Fei Chyi, you’re right) has asked me on a few occasions when I’m going to propose her… :-P
What I planned and what I did was really a different thing. There were a few things that I wasn’t sure about, like what to get her, where to do it, how to do it.. Most of all I wanted to make it different, something that she won’t expect or suspect. And of courses, it must be remembered for a life time because it is only gonna happen once…
What to get for Shoby for the proposal?
While I was discussing with Gaya, she told me that Shoby would like to have a chain with a cross. I thought that was a good idea because I didn’t want to get her a ring, because I was not to sure of the ring size or it’s the same thing everyone does. I wanted it to be different and Shoby will always remember it. So I pursued for a white gold chain.
Where to propose?
a. I wanted to take her to Genting Highlands and propose to her from mountain top in front of many people… then again its no fun
b. I wanted to surprise her in her office and propose to her there.. (but what if she says no? ha ha ha…)
c. Gaya suggested to take her for a dinner in a beautiful restaurant and go on my knees.. the story goes on.. ….. but Shoby will be sure to suspect something..
d. This idea came on the day I was going to propose to her .. (the story below….)
About 8.00 am – I dropped my mum off in her tuition place and parked my car at the side. Shoby took the day off and she was at home waiting for me. Something struck my mind to do it in her house, immediately I called Sudhir (pity him, poor boy was sleeping). I made plans with him on the spot and he agreed to the mission.
About 9.00 am – I bought breakfast for them and started planning with Sudhir, I gave him time until 6 pm that all should be done! Shoby was wondering what the hell Sudhir and I were discussing. Since I had so many hours to kill time, I told Shoby that I needed to settle some payment in Sentul. She said ok, and she wanted to visit Shanty and Peter in Cheras. I simply said ‘ok’ knowing it won’t work out.
About 2.00 pm - Roads were jammed everywhere, so I decided to have lunch in Hartamas. My mind was occupied with Sudhir’s whereabouts .. didn’t really pay much attention to Shoby, though..
About 4.00 pm - I was done with my payments and told Shoby lets have tea, she was pissed. She insisted that we meet Shanty and Peter. I was wondering what to do, and I decided to call Jacob for tea. We drove to B’fields and waited outside Grace corner. The rain was pouring heavily and our ‘friend’ was so impatient. She started her tantrums and refused to get down from the car. I was giving all kind of stories to calm her down. Trust me, I felt so funny because, at one side she was going to get surprised later and on the other hand, I had to go through all this just to surprise her. Poor Sudhir, not knowing, that he got wet in the rain and was getting things done. He asked me to delay as much as possible
About 5.00 pm – Shoby was really pissed off and really angry. She refused to speak and as usual she was crying, throwing tissues and cursing the whole world. I couldn’t stand laughing at her, and of course she got more pissed. I was tempted to tell her what’s going on but I rather ‘get’ all this first. I had to make up stories and put the blame on Sudhir saying he has some friend at home and he doesn’t want anyone to disturb him (but truly I felt so about for saying those stuff).
About 6.00 pm - Sudhir sms-ed and told us to come in 20 minutes time. I drove to Bangsar and went to pharmacy. Spent 10 mins in there while our ‘friend’ was in the car. I could feel the hot water boiling next to me on the way back.
About 6.30 pm – Shoby went up straight to her house without waiting for me. I had to wait for the next lift, it was just in time - Sudhir prepared everything and left the house. As Shoby went in, she was shocked. The table had a red cloth (we turned the table cloth over), there were 4 candles, 3 roses with a vase, sparkling wine, salad, food, a small cute soft toy, wine glasses, 2 chairs on each side. Sudhir followed the instructions I gave him, because I wanted it to look classy. But he forgot the music.. hahaha, I grabbed the music from his room and played it for Shoby. I led her to her chair, served her food. Then we started eating the salad. I served her the main course. While eating we were just looking at each other’s eyes. Then I asked if we could dance. She said ok. After dancing for 1 song, I went to my knees and proposed her (I can’t really remember what I said but am sure it was beautiful) ha ha ha..
I hooked the chain around her neck and it was truly a beautiful experience. I thank God, that He made all things possible and granted us the desires of our heart. Of course, the man behind this was Sudhir Dhillon. I told myself I would repay his kindness one day. God in His loving kindness, has allowed all this to happen.
Advice
To all guys, make sure you plan for a proposal if not you will regret for the rest of your life!! The girls will bug you forever… (Advise from Gaya)
